i operate a juvenile facility that house 32 juveniles. The facility has a fire control system linked to the sprinkler system. Several juvenile has activated the sprinkler causing panic in the dormitory and flooding the facility. are ther any legal actions that can be taken and would this be considered a crimminal act.

    Yes, when I was in a college dorm kids always did this and the police were always looking for the people who did it.

    I really doubt that it would fall under federal jurisdiction,, so it would be a local ordnance and that may be different in every town.

    yes this is a criminal act it also comes with a huge fine for falsely pulling the alarm especially if teh fire department responds.

    Property Damage…

    Inducing Panic…

    Tampering with fire protection equipment…

    Yes, I think those are all crimes. I really don’t know if they are felonies or just misdemeanors. But why ask Yahoo Answers?

    I think I’d be checking with local law enforcement.
