If you happens to put your firearm on a safety mode, will it ever fire? To those who said no, are you sure enough to fire the weapon at yourself to see if the bullet will actually come out of it?

I’m asking this question to test you guys on whether you actually know the fact or because you just assuming that you know the answer.
Wow, I don’t know how the heck can anyone be confused about this.
I AM NOT TELLING YOU TO FIRE A WEAPON AT YOURSELF!
What I meant was if you’re really sure enough to put your life on the line.

I am not sure that I completely understand your question but mechanical safeties can and do fail.
You finger is your primary safety; keep it out of the trigger guard until you are ready to fire.
The best way to handle a firearm safety is to turn on the best safety ever manufactured; an alert brain.
And not I would not point a weapon at myself with the safety on.
it will not the trigger wont even pull on most guns
if you properly maintain your weapon (SCRUB!) and it is not malfunctioning, then the safety will not allow you to fire, even when the trigger is pulled (unless you have a glock. those things have the safety built in the trigger).
accidents happen
Treat every firearm as though it were loaded.
To answer the latter part of your question, no, I would not point a pistol at myself and pull the trigger to test the safety.
That depends on the safety itself. Does it work properly or not? If it works, it stops the bullets from ever getting struck, which ignites the powder, which fires the bullets forward. And no, if the gun was in good working order and I tested it, I would not fire it at myself. Only an idoit would ever fire a weapon with a live round in it at his or her self.
Ill bet $100 that I can get a gun with a push button safety to fire even when the safety is on.
No. it won’t fire.
To test your gun.
You remove all the rounds in the weapon, put to safety and squeeze the trigger.
If you didn’t hear the sound from the hammer hitting the firing pin. Your safety is working.
If you want to test with live rounds.
To test it, aim and fire at target at the shooting range.
Never aim weapon at yourself.
a cock*ed weapon with a mechanical safety can fire if the safety mechanism breaks. when i handle firearms i don’t put a round in the chamber until i’m ready to use it.
might as well carry a stick of tnt with you if you keep your weapon cock*ed all the time.
i had to put the star in because it keeps blocking the word
The weapon’s safety locks the firing mechanism. Some weapons do not have a safety, some have several. No one but a fool would point a weapon at themselves, loaded, unloaded, safety on or safety off. People are killed and injured everyday by weapons that they thought were on safety or unloaded. It’s easy to make a mistake that’s impossible to recover from. Never ever point a weapon at someone you don’t intend to shoot, especially yourself. Overseas I had a buddy kill himself with a .45. He was practicing his fast draw with the safety on, but somehow it was knocked off and he shot himself in the **** and bled to death. At least he killed himself and not someone else, but I can still see his face and hear him screaming.
There are rumors that M4s have fired during an IED event when on safe (round chambered). I’ve never been able to substantiate that rumor.
This may have been already mentioned, but yes, it is purely possible. Cooking off a hot round is absolutely possible. Seen it happen at the range more than once. Hence, always keep your weapon pointed down range when loaded or even unloaded.
The best advice, already stated, treat every firearm as if it were loaded, because I bet you most mistakes, were caused by firearms that weren’t loaded.
Also, quick edit, with a round in the chamber, regardless of firing mode, slamming a spring operated firearm on the ground can fire that round. Hence, why the military drops the hell out of you for dropping your weapon. You drop your weapon, you may very well injure or worse, kill someone.
It depends on the weapon, it depends on the type of safety in use.
Some weapons will fire when on safe if abused in just the right way. Other weapons are completely mechanically blocked from firing when on safe.
Could you be more specific on the weapon you are interested in?
In my opinion things can and do fail. I would be reasonably sure that a firearm on safety would not fire just as I’d be reasonably sure that a car would stop if I pressed the brakes.
I would however not ever assume that is 100% in fact I’m quite sure that it is less than 100%.
I always assume that a firearm is able to fire even on safety.
There is no way I would point a safetied firearm at myself.
I doubt that it would go off, but I wouldn’t risk pointing it at myself. That’s the kind of stuff you hear about on the news. But yes, of all the weapons I’ve dealt with, if you have the saftey on, you’re good to go.
