Enough to keep it green in the hottest, driest part of summer.
How much depends entirely on the plants or grasses, and where you live, how hot, how windy, how humid, etc.

It’s going to depend on the weather conditions. Always water the top first and you can reduce or even avoid watering the bottom, depending on how steep the hillside is. Just water enough to keep it green, you’ll probably have to experiment a bit, but if you’re getting a lot of run-off, you’ve watered too much. If you have a timer, do it in the very very early hours of the morning, like 3 or 4am. If you have the land aerated, that will help let you use less water — you can do it in early spring and maybe even in the middle of summer (although a lot of people won’t do it then) and again in the fall. This will give the water the best chance to penetrate the soil and do the best job with the least amount of water.

by enough controlled springing drops / rainy watering
systems, in the midnight till early morning times!.
* While the soil stays moist,
and have enough shady sun lights, plus fresh air, etc.
*But, not stopping wet, below the surface and.
has time to dry on the surface.
*and, it depends also on the temperature,
and humidity ,too! .
** So, just try to test by your fingers inside the soils.
